Living in the Pacific Northwest, thoughts drift to warmth and sunshine this time of year. So I dreamt of going to a little brunch in the sunny area of Palm Springs.
I was inspired by this Crew Cuts dress that I’ve wanted to make a version of for a year now.
I love the Liberty of London pattern so I found a Robert Kauffman “London Calling” fabric that is similar to the Liberty fabric but has a more vintage appeal, even a little art deco feel. The dress is made from the Oliver + S roller skate dress pattern (yes, Oliver + S has some of my favorite patterns, but make recommendations of new ones to try if you have any!) I just added a pleat in the front and used a ribbon instead of elastic in the waist. This would even look adorable with more pleats or gathers at the top instead. And honestly, it would also have been cute without the gathered waist.
I had great aspirations to make more for the outfit such as capri leggings, headband, purse and maybe even a little cardigan, but as so often happens I ran out of time. I still hope to add these later and am very happy with the outcome of the dress!
